Alumni and the Careers Office
Melbourne Law School is one of two law schools in Australia with a Careers Office based in the faculty.
This unique service provides our students with comprehensive career advice throughout their entire law degree and allows them to start planning their careers from the very beginning of their studies.
The programs developed by the Careers Office are designed to support students in their quest to fulfil their career aspirations. Careers Office staff help students with job seeking skills, Traineeship applications, alternatives to legal practice and career directions generally.
Having a Careers Office focussed specifically on law students also allows for greater opportunities to forge links between the alumni and current students. From a careers perspective we recognise the valuable contribution that the alumni can make to the career development of current students.
- The Careers Office in the Melbourne Law School runs a series of careers events each year where speakers talk about their career and how they have managed their career development. We are always interested to hear from people who have forged these paths successfully, and to learn from their experience. If you would like to be involved in the Careers Office seminars please email the office on law-careers@unimelb.edu.au
- In 2009 the Melbourne Law School launched a Mentor Program for first year students. Students will learn and benefit from the experience of established practitioners; and for mentors it is an opportunity to develop a relationship with the future leaders of the profession, as well as maintain a relationship with the law school
- The Employment pages of this website advertise jobs to students. This is a free service to employers. If you have any employment opportunities at your firm please send an advertisement to us - we will distribute it free-of-charge to our 2000 strong student body
- The Law School is actively developing internship and seasonal clerkship opportunities for our students. We would welcome any opportunities you may be able to offer and would be pleased to work with you to develop such programs
We are now seeking your help to accomodate growing student numbers in 2010 and beyond. Experienced professionals are welcomed across a range of legal fields, thus reflecting an increasingly diverse student group.
