Melbourne Law School Mentor Program
Melbourne Law School introduced a Mentor Program in 2009 to complement students' experience while at law school. It aims to support students' formal academic training by providing a link to the profession and exposure to the practical realities of working in the law. The program is designed to motivate and encourage students and provide them with a sense of direction for their career path.
The Program provides new students with a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the profession, develop networks in the law in Australia and explore career options.
Mentors and students are broadly matched on the basis of common interest. Mentors and students meet three to four times per year. Mentors are drawn from the legal profession and beyond, reflecting the diverse interests of our students. Mentors participating in the program include senior representatives of the legal, corporate, government and community sectors.
Mentors are encouraged to register all year-round. Accomplished professionals with five years or more post-law graduation experience, are particularly encouraged to apply. Further information about being a mentor and the registration procedure is available here.
If you would like to register your interest in mentoring a MLS student in 2012 or beyond, please complete the online registration form here.
